Great Service. Excellent Food.Grilled Chicken Chef Salad is the best!all the locals eat here...been going since i was a kid 35+ years. Good stuff, Great atmosphere.

Food was good and the people were very nice.

The staff was friendly but food was sad. I thought it would be safe to get shrimp since in the name it said "steak and seafood". I butterfly shrimp came straight out of the Gordon's fisherman box but at least it was better than my brother's barbeque. I have eaten there in years past but it ok. Sadly I won't try it again.

The food is hardly fresh. A catfish dinner was brought to us in about a minute and a half. There was nothing fresh about it, fairly certain it was microwaved. The mashed potatoes were watery and tasted like they were instant. This place might be good for an inexpensive breakfast but that's about it

I'd give a rating of ten if I could. Greetings the moment I walked in and top-notch service by my waitress. All the members of the staff were very polite and very friendly and courteous. Thanks for your hospitality. I started off with an order of mozzarella cheese sticks and ordered the large T-bone steak, which was cooked to perfection. Including a big salad, fries, and two dinner rolls. The restaurant was clean and a very comfortable setting and great atmosphere. The biggest surprise was the group sitting in the corner facing me, two gentlemen and a lady, to who I wish to say "Thank you very much" and to extend my gratitude for, paid for my dinner. What an amazing thing to do for a total stranger. Thank you again.

A surprise lunch that wasn't up to par. The waitress was a sweetheart & a delight. I'd been in hospital for 2mos. & now out. Looking forward to celebrating at Clarences. The chicken livers were over cooked & hard. The green bean casserole was mushy & not enough onions in it. I understand it gets busy & lunch hour can be crazy but not to enjoy a $9.00 meal, please...

Excellent food. Chicken and dumplin is what I had. I had fried okra, Cole slaw, and Navy beans. Delicious.

On Saturday night they have a great special with steak and chicken tenders. Good good..relaxed atmosphere..and friendly staff. It's a nice place to go for a good meal and coffee afterward.

pretty reasonably priced. 1st time there was okay diner food. next 2 and last 2 trips, food and service were well below expectation. Don't understand why locals like this place. I cook better food than this place.

This place hasn't changed in the last 40 years. The roof was leaking while I was there, and the service was mediocre. The food was greasy but passable. Why 5 stars? One word: charm. Maybe sympathy too. I don't know. At any rate, Clarence's is exactly the type of place you would expect in southwest va.

Been GREAT food for as long as I can remember, (25 years) avoid the chains if your in the area. You will not be disappointed. All the staff are sweet and friendly too!

The food was ok everything needed salt. And soda refills are not free. Waitress was very nice 6.55 specials on food. Come right out like faster then fast food. Everything was barely warm.

We parked at the gas station behind the steakhouse for 10 hr reset. Drink came as a can coke and a cup of ice. I ordered a hamburger and onion rings. He ordered the ribeye and onion rings. The onion rings were battered in tempura batter, which is a lighter batter. They came with ranch dipping sauce. They were good. A little greasy, but still good. The hamburger was good. Could use a little salt and pepper. My husband said the same for the steak. All and all not a bad experience.

Haven't eaten here since the early 90's. But back then it was terrific. It must still be good because their still in business. I only happened to be in the parking lot for a job I was on and we all know how Google tracks us....lol. But if I'm ever in Martinsville, I'll definitely put it on my too stop in and eat list!!

This family friendly eatery was recommended by a good friend. We stopped in for a early afternoon lunch. Waitress was friendly and helpful with our order. Food came quickly since I ordered from the daily specials menu. My chopped steak with gravy was pure comfort food down to the pot roast tasting gravy. I choose the three sides, green beans, macaroni salad and warm candied apples. I will be returning. Great meal!

Amazing staff. Clean restaurant, great food at affordable prices. Love their deal of steak and shrimp for 9.99. The food is cooked well everytime. Lots of seating and parking. Large tables, and an amazing atmosphere. Love this place and look forward to going back soon.

Hit the spot! Hubby and I were traveling thru this area today and decided to drop in as we have never been to this place before. So glad we did! Service was perfect, with a smile. Always a good local option for home cooking. Salads are good too! Strawberry cobbler topped off the after church Sunday meal! Praise the Lord for strawberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream!!

Good food service was good I asked for a medium steak and had to send it back because they cooked it rare vs. medium. my daughter had the catfish she enjoyed it. Order the hush puppies you might find their take on the shape of the horse puppies different. Overall no complaints it was a great meal
